WHERE WAS SONG RECORDED? 8-Ball Studios in Portland, OR.

WHERE IS YOUR MUSIC AVAILABLE? Online at CD Baby, distribution through Burnside Distribution.

WHICH GENRES BEST DESCRIBE YOUR MUSIC? Fits best under the label Americana, but I like to call it Desert Gypsy Rock.

WHAT’S THIS SONG ABOUT? The song is about old-time superstition.

WHY DID YOU SELECT THIS TRACK TO SUBMIT TO THE IMAs? People seem to latch onto the song, singing along after hearing it once or twice, and I’ve often been told it gets stuck in people’s heads.

WHAT UNUSUAL INSTRUMENTS OR TECHNIQUES DID YOU USE ON THIS ALBUM? Whistling and hand-clapping -I wanted to give the song an old-timey feel.

WHO IS SITTING IN YOUR AUDIENCE? My audience is pretty eclectic – a wide age span and interest group. It tends to appeal to people who like to listen to lyrics.

WHAT MAKES YOUR FANS UNIQUE? Lots of them reach out to me on a personal level, commenting on specific songs or lyrical content and how they relate. I’m grateful for these connections.

WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE PLACES TO PLAY? I love playing everywhere from big Rock clubs to house concerts to campfire song circles.

WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR MOST MEMORABLE ACHIEVEMENT TO DATE? I was a New Folk finalist for the 2009 Kerrville Folk Festival.

WHAT’S IN THE WORKS FOR 2010? I’m relocating from Portland, OR to the mountains outside Taos, NM. We’ll be living off the grid and building a straw bale house. I’m excited to play music in the Southwest. I’m also writing lots of songs these days and plan to record another album in 2010/11 in New Mexico.

FINISH THIS SENTENCE: THE MUSIC INDUSTRY IS…..Not really something I think about much.

WHAT IS YOUR DEFINITION OF SUCCESS? Maintaining artistic integrity; pushing my writing ability so I continue to improve; and evoking genuine responses to my songs from listeners.

WHAT’S ON YOUR IPOD THAT WOULD SURPRISE YOUR FANS? Strawbale podcasts and Blondie’s Greatest Hits.

NAME SOME ARTISTS YOU ARE CHAMPIONING: Lately I’m listening to Greg Brown, Kris Kristofferson, Guy Clarke, Dan Auerbach, Richmond Fontaine, Tom Waits, Pete Seeger and Dolly Parton.
