FROM NEW YORK’S CUTTING EDGE TO LOS ANGELES COOL: MATT VON RODERICK TO SHOWCASE SONGS FROM UPCOMING ALBUM TUESDAY OCTOBER 6, 8:00PM AT SANTA MONICA’S DAKOTA MUSIC LOUNGE
Described by the press as “an amalgamation of Miles Davis and Radiohead” (All About Jazz) and “young, intense and innovative… striking and innovative music” (New Jersey Star Ledger), Indie/Alt. Rock/Nu- Jazz singer/trumpeter Matt Von Roderick is rolling out a revolution in his sound at his Los Angeles showcase performance Tuesday October 6, 8:00pm at Santa Monica’s Dakota Music Lounge (formerlyTemple Bar).
The upcoming showcase performance will feature songs from Matt Von Roderick’s eponymous upcoming album – a challenging yet accessible set ranging from driving electro-infused pop to breezy atmospheric textures, blending intimate vocals with virtuosic trumpet playing and electronic elements. The album is slated for a Spring 2010 release through Jaggo Records, distributed by Universal Music Group. Backing Matt Von Roderick on stage is a “who’s who” of in-demand musicians who have performed, recorded and toured with the likes of Ludacris, Hillary Duff and Aaron Carter – guitarist Dave Wood,
drummer Mike Bennett, and bassist Ashley Dzerigian.
Currently based in Los Angeles, Matt possesses a rare combination of commercial and progressive aesthetics, having toured internationally, recorded and/or collaborated with such diverse artists as: Neil Diamond, Musiq Soulchild, Brad Mehldau, Super Furry Animals, DJ Spinna, John Corigliano, Lenny Pickett, Robert Sadin, John Medeski from MMW, Complexions Dance Company, Skitch Henderson, and Nneena Freelon. His work as a performer has been featured on NBC’s Saturday Night Live, the nationally
syndicated presidential race coverage on MSNBC, and as both soloist and composer at Lincoln Center and the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.
Dakota Music Lounge is considered by many to be among the best sounding venues in Los Angeles. Much more than a stage and a great bar, Dakota offers guests a full dinner menu from the kitchen open until at least 1:00am. Dakota’s talent booker Heather Rae strives to execute shows that will bring people of all musical tastes and backgrounds together for an inspiring and social experience.
