Celina Denkins has successfully booked celebrity and local talent for the legendary Whisky a Go-Go in West Hollywood, California for the past 6+ years. Celina has also booked national and local talent as part of Sunset Strip Music Festival (www.ssmf.com) and been an Independent Music Awards judge for the past 3 years.
As the Senior Booking Agent and National Talent Buyer for the Whisky, Celina orchestrates the nightlife of this legendary rock venue with everyone from The Doors 40th Anniversary Celebration to The Police reunification performance to Avril Lavigne‘s CD release to Glenn Hughes’ (Deep Purple) American Tour to Tim McGraw and Faith Hill‘s annual charity event and much more.
The Whisky a Go-Go, founded in 1964, has a long history of birthing some of the greatest acts in music, such as The Doors, Johnny Rivers, Love, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, James Brown, Motley Crue, Van Halen, Joan Jett, Linkin Park, The Killers and Taylor Swift to name a few. The Whisky is nationally and internationally most noted for The Doors being the weekly house band in 1966 and has been inducted into the Rock n’ Roll Hall of Fame. Whisky is presently the only surviving venue to be inducted and this ceremony occurred during Celina’s career at the Whisky.
Celina had a hand in writing the famous Hall of Fame plaque that presently resides outside of the Whisky. She has been honored for such famed shows as Velvet Revolver in 2007 which featured lead singer Scott Weiland. She has also assembled one of the most noted shows for the Sunset Strip Music Festival (SSMF) in which she headlined Cypress Hill & Slash together in 2008. In 2010 for SSMF, Celina booked Beth Hart in one of the most popular performances of the festival. In 2011 for SSMF Celina booked Ray Manzarek and Robby Krieger of The Doors as well as assembled a performance of notable tap dancer, Baakari Wilder (Bring in ‘da Noise, Bring in ‘da Funk) and Divinity Roxx (bass player for Beyoncé).
Though a National Talent Buyer, Celina is most known for her love of booking local, unsigned and Indie musicians and for her musical diversity. Celina also wears the hat of managing singer/songwriter pop rock artist, Kathryn Gallagher. Along with being the most adored and respected booking agent on the Sunset Strip, Celina is an avid supporter of youth music programs and is a dedicated board member of the School of Rock/Rock School Scholarship Fund. Though Celina works in the Whisky booking office during the day, you can also find her supporting the talent she books, nightly. Her uniquely personal approach to booking makes Celina Denkins a favorite with unsigned artists and bands who perform the Whisky’s historic stage.
