Richard Jankovich

Richard has a 10-plus year history in music licensing. During his first year at Rumblefish, Richard developed and implemented an effective licensing strategy which has led to network-wide licensing deals with MTV Network (over 13 channels), Rainbow Media (AMC, IFC, WE, VOOM), and Current TV. Acting as Director of A&R, Richard grew the pre-cleared song catalog from 4,000 to over 15,000 including such notable signings as Joe Budden (Def Jam), Xiu Xiu, Stars Of The Lid, the Feelies, and Face To Face. As EVP of DeWolfe Music in New York, he steered the company’s music licensing business to new levels of revenue while providing vision and leadership to the company’s staff of 15. Richard also launched a very successful catalog of sample-free hip-hop music for DeWolfe, launched the company’s inaugural integrated advertising campaign, and placed many tracks in impressive projects, like Oscar Winner Brokeback Mountain; Talladega Nights; NBC’s Ed and Medium; and Robert Altman’s The Company. Richard’s interest in music synchronization began during in his tenure at EURO/RSCG, where he was involved in selecting music for clients such as Intel, NASDAQ, Evian and Volvo. He also created original scores for MCI commercials, Volvo promotion materials, and EURO/RSCG’s corporate communications. While in New York, Richard studied film music with the acclaimed faculty of New York University’s graduate program while simultaneously leading the electro-pop band Burnside Project, whose song, “Cue The Pulse To Begin” was the theme for Showtime’s Queer As Folk. Richard continues to create music under the name “Pocket” including remixes for artists Of Montreal, Kristin Hersh, Elk City, Mendoza Line, and Dirty On Purpose.
