WHAT’S THIS SONG ABOUT? “The Winds” is a metaphor for life and changing circumstances that in many ways can be compared to nature, out of our control and something that we have to adapt to and learn to enjoy as a part of everyday life.
WHY DID YOU SELECT THIS TRACK TO SUBMIT TO THE IMAs? It had everything the band is about: leads, hooks, punch, acoustics, atmosphere, clean textures…
WHAT UNUSUAL INSTRUMENTS OR TECHNIQUES DID YOU USE ON THIS ALBUM? Quite a few different time changes throughout the verses/chorus. We used the three guitar lineup to build a wall of sound almost giving it a synth effect. And lots of clean guitars/delays/effects plus acoustic guitar, being which is a big part of our sound, was also layered on top to give it more texture.
DID FANS HELP FUND THIS PROJECT? No
WHO IS SITTING ON YOUR AUDIENCE: International fanbase, reaches out to lots of different ages and crowds from different genres.
WHAT MAKES YOUR FANS UNIQUE? They all come from many different musical backgrounds whether it is Rock, Metal, Pop, Classical, J-Rock, Electro or Space Opera. Also, quite a varied combination of musicians and non musicians.
WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE PLACES TO PLAY? Anywhere with a decent size stage (there are six of us!!!) and a 24-hour kitchen/bar.
WHAT HAS BEEN THE BANDS’ MOST MEMORABLE ACHIEVEMENT TO DATE? Winning the 2007 MusicOZ awards “Tony Mott” Category, nominated for Best Metal/Hardcore act in Australia, and of course being a nominee for the IMA awards!
WHAT’S IN THE WORKS FOR 2010? Record another EP or album- this time professionally at an awesome studio.
FINISH THIS SENTENCE: THE MUSIC INDUSTRY IS…..becoming very predictable. Bands and artists that try to do something different aren’t being given the recognition they deserve. Predictable clone bands are what keeps getting signed and promoted when it should be the other way round.
WHAT IS YOUR DEFINITION OF SUCCESS? Making music to our standards of perfection without any regrets and surviving this world with only music as our backup.
