ARTISTS ON THIS TRACK: Noreen Crayton (me)

WHERE WAS SONG RECORDED? at Bayou Recording Studios in Nashville, TN

WHICH GENRES BEST DESCRIBE YOUR MUSIC? Urban Contemporary Gospel

WHAT’S THIS SONG ABOUT? leaning on God through incredible trials, coming through the darkness holding on to faith

WHY DID YOU SELECT THIS TRACK TO SUBMIT TO THE IMAs? Rob Galbraith (who produces for Ronnie Milsap) produced this track and the musicians he assembled were incredible. I felt they needed to be heard. They really laid into the essence of the song and captured the feel of what I had written. It was an incredible experience to work with them all.

WHAT UNUSUAL INSTRUMENTS, SONG STRUCTURE/WRITING STRUCTURE/WRITING TECHNIQUE, UNUSUAL RECORDING METHOD DID YOU USE? For this song, live musicians were used. (live drums, keys, bass, 2 guitars). Larry Paxton was the session leader and bass player, the other musicians were Clayton Ivey (keys), Owen Hale (drums), Jack Pearson (guitar) and Larry Byrom (guitar). Greg Tornquist gave some crucial input on the pulse of the bass line.

‘Walking In The Faith’ however, was written in one shot at 1 AM in the morning. I didn’t even re-write it…it all came from a thought. I got to thinking about my father (who’s a preacher) and the old time way of worship and singing. The feel is reminiscent of the songs I used to hear when I was a little girl growing up in the church, that down home, bluesy thing…I did want it to pop and get the listener’s attention with its simple pulse.

WHERE IS YOUR MUSIC AVAILABLE? everywhere…CDBaby.com, iTunes, Rhapsody, Amazon, CD Universe

DID FANS HELP FUND THIS PROJECT? No…

DESCRIBE YOUR AUDIENCE: people who love all types of gospel music..from traditional to contemporary and people who have never listened to gospel too.

WHAT MAKES YOUR FANS UNIQUE? I have a lot of fans who aren’t necessarily church goers. I’ve had a lot of people contact me to let me know that the cd has inspired to look deeper within themselves and re-discover the light of God that may have actually been buried because of many circumstances in their lives.

WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE PLACES TO PLAY? I like singing everywhere.

WHAT HAS BEEN THE BANDS’ MOST MEMORABLE ACHIEVEMENT TO DATE? aside from the release (it took 3 years to complete the project) this nomination is the most memorable achievement (I’m very grateful for it)

WHAT’S IN THE WORKS FOR 2010? currently in the final stages of the 2nd cd, writing songs, prayerfully looking to work with other artists

FINISH THIS SENTENCE: THE MUSIC INDUSTRY IS …constantly reinventing itself.

WHAT IS YOUR DEFINITION OF SUCCESS? Being at peace with you are and enjoying the journey that’s called life.

WHAT’S ON YOUR IPOD THAT WOULD SURPRISE YOUR FANS? classical music
