Adam Duritz is the lead singer and a founding member of Counting Crows. The band formed in 1991, and achieved huge success with their debut album, August And Everything After (1993), featuring the single “Mr. Jones.” The album quickly (it became the fastest-selling album at the time since Nirvana’s Nevermind) sold 7 million copies. The band has since released Recovering the Satellites in 1995, This Desert Life (1999), Hard Candy (2002), and Saturday Nights & Sunday Mornings (2008), as well as earned an award from BMI and an Academy Award nomination for the song “Accidentally in Love” from the movie Shrek 2 in 2004. In addition to selling over 20 million albums worldwide, Duritz has worked with T-Bone Burnett, Ed Kowalcyzk (of Live), Vanessa Carlton, The Wallflowers, Ryan Adams, Dashboard Confessional and Nanci Griffith.
